Bands within my genre

In order to help me have a wider understanding of the Alternative/Indie Rock genre I researched some bands that are on the current music scene.

Don Broco
A four-piece alternative rock band who were formed in Bedford in 2008.
Their debut mini-album, 'Big Fat Smile', was released on Monday 14 February 2011. Their debut album 'Priorities' was released on 13 August 2012.






Arctic Monkeys
An English indie rock band, formed in 2002 in High Green, a suburb of Sheffield.The band's debut album, 'Whatever People Say I Am', That's What I'm Not, released in 2006, became the fastest-selling debut album in British music history, and remains the fastest-selling debut album by a group in the UK.



The Kooks
An English rock band formed in Brighton, in 2004.
The Kooks broke into the musical mainstream with their debut album 'Inside In/Inside Out' in 2006. The album was ultimately successful, achieving quadruple platinum status in the UK within a year and also overseas in the form of a platinum certification in Australia and two times platinum in Ireland.




The Futures
A four-piece rock band from Buckinghamshire, England, who formed in 2009. 
In issue 133 of Rock Sound magazine, March 2010, Futures gave away their debut mini album, The Holiday, free of charge, leading the issue to becoming the biggest selling copy of the magazine in two years. The album was later made available for purchase via the band's website.The album was re-released through the band's website on April 19, 2010, with bonus acoustic tracks.

Little Comets
An indie rock trio from Jarrow and Newcastle-upon-Tyne, formed in 2008.
Their debut album 'In Search of Elusive Little Comets' was released on 31 January 2011, followed by their second album 'Life is Elsewhere' on 15 October 2012.
